Invasive Species Removal SWARM at Turkey Mountain
WHAT: Join the Groundworks Hudson and multiple other organizations including the New York-New Jersey Trail Conference in combating tree-killing vines and other invasive plants in Yorktown’s beautiful Turkey Mountain Park. Help us improve the park’s habitat by removing these invasives that crowd out wildlife-friendly native plants. We will provide tools, gloves, and snacks. No previous experience necessary!
WHEN: Saturday, April 14 from 10:00 AM ¬– 3:00 PM
WHERE: Meet at the Turkey Mountain Park parking lot, off Route 118, south of the hamlet of Yorktown Heights. The park entrance is opposite Croton Heights Road at Route 118. Parking is limited so please carpool if possible; overflow parking and shuttle bus will be available if needed.
TO BRING: Please bring your own water bottle to fill up at the water station. Dress in layers, wear long pants, a long sleeved shirt, good shoes, gloves (we will have a limited supply of work gloves). Bring your own tools if you can (loppers, clippers, hand saws) - we will have some available for volunteers. We'll also have hot drinks and snacks.
