oin the Friends of Westchester County Parks on April 26th from 10am-2pm for a stewardship event to clean up the Bronx River Reservation in White Plains.

Friends of Westchester County Parks is joining with the Westchester County Department of Parks, Recreation, and Conservation on the annual Pitch in for Parks Day, taking place on April 26th. Friends sponsors this volunteer clean-up event every year, and for 2014 will take on a project of our own on the Bronx River Reservation at County Center in White Plains. The Bronx River Reservation is an 807-acre park that runs from Kensico Dam Plaza to Mount Vernon. Friends’ focus on this area in White Plains addresses the need for greater participation in stewardship of the reservation land in a more heavily populated urban area. Project Description: Volunteers will have the opportunity to take on a variety of needed assignments for this area of Bronx River Reservation, including debris/litter removal, raking, weeding, and mulching, and removal of tree stakes and invasive growth.
