Date:

Until recently, most ecological restoration efforts have focused on the notion of "going back" to some pre-disturbance era. But today, altered species distributions, along with changes in climate and land use, are resulting in the formation of novel ecosystems—systems with no historical analog—which have been ignored or deemed in need of reparative action. Using case studies to spark discussion, Dr. Richard Hobbs will explore the practical and ethical challenges and opportunities in developing appropriate management approaches for such systems.
