Invasive Forest Pests Walk

Date:
Sunday, July 9, 2017 - 10:00am to 12:30pm
Location:
Cary Institute main campus parking lot, 2801 Sharon Turnpike (Route 44), Millbrook, NY

During an interpretive walk on Cary Institute's grounds, forest ecologist Gary Lovett will discuss invasive forest pests and the impact they are having on our nation's trees.

Emerald ash borer, Asian longhorned beetle, and hemlock woolly adelgid are just a few of the imported insects which, together, cause billions in damages each year. The problem is widespread, with pests present in all 50 states. The Hudson Valley is one of the hardest-hit areas in the country.

The event is free and open to the public. Wear comfortable walking shoes, and bring drinking water. For more information, call (845) 677-7600 x 121. Registration is required
