Teachers enrolled in this course will improve their understanding of the ecology, impacts, and management of invasive species in the Hudson River and its watershed.

This inquiry- and data-rich course will begin with an overview of the Hudson River estuary, before exploring the biological, physical, social, and ethical implications of species invasions in the Hudson River watershed.

Field work will consist of primarily outdoor Hudson River and invasive species inquiry activities, with an optional wetland canoe paddle. Students will hear about current invasive species science from leading experts at the Cary Institute, conduct their own investigation into the impact of an invasive species, explore invasive species data, and learn how to integrate these ideas into the classroom.
