There will be two trainings next month (July) to go over species identification and surveying protocol. We will be learning to identify plants including curlyleaf pondweed, brittle naiad, hydrilla, fanwort, water chestnut, and Eurasian watermilfoil. We will also go over characteristics of two plants that are approaching/emerging in the area - didymo and aldrovanda. Key identifying characteristics for the Chinese mystery snail, Asian clam, and the zebra mussel will also be explained.
*Hydrilla is the highest priority species, so if you don't feel comfortable surveying for all of the species listed, you can decide which/how many species would work best for you.
Training days will take place at Black Rock Park in Croton-on-Hudson (directions below) on the following days:
Thursday, July 16: 1-3pm
Sunday, July 26: 10am-12pm
If anybody is unable to make these times or cannot drive to Croton, please let me know and we can find another time/location that works.
